On Tuesday March 7 at 7:00 p.m., historian Art Milmore will present a talk
\nand slide show dealing with the tragic loss of the steamer Portland in the
\nThanksgiving gale of 1898. Frequently called New England\u2019s
\n\u201cTitanic\u201d, the Portland sank twenty miles outside of Massachusetts Bay
\nkilling all 192 people on board. The wreck was not discovered until 1989
\nand was conclusively proven to be the Portland in 2002. Mr. Milmore has
\nwritten a book, “And the Sea Shall Have Them All”, which will be available
\nfor purchase and signing. <\/p>\n
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the John Curtis Library. There
\nis no charge for admission. Refreshments will be served. The library is
\nlocated on Route 139 in Hanover Center. For more information, please
