{"id":2897,"date":"2017-03-28T05:45:14","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T09:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2897"},"modified":"2017-03-28T05:45:14","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T09:45:14","slug":"last-day-to-register-to-vote-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2897","title":{"rendered":"Last day to register to vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Tuesday, April<br \/>\n11th is the last day to register to vote at the Annual Town Meeting and in<br \/>\nthe Annual Town Election.  Town Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 8:00<br \/>\np.m. on Tuesday the 11th.  Interestingly, Friday, April 14th is the last<br \/>\nday to register to vote in the Special Town Meeting that is also scheduled<br \/>\nfor Monday, May 1st.  Town Hall will be open until 8:00 p.m. on that Friday<br \/>\nnight, too.<\/p>\n<p>Any Hanover citizen who will be eighteen on or before the first day of Town<br \/>\nMeeting (May 1st) or by the Town Election (May 6th) is encouraged to<br \/>\nregister to vote. Once registered, individuals will be eligible to vote in<br \/>\nall elections thereafter.  Further, residents may \u201cpre-register\u201d to<br \/>\nvote if they are age 16 or 17, but they will not be eligible to vote until<br \/>\nthey turn 18.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party<br \/>\nstatus on-line, by mail or in person. The link for on-line registration is<br \/>\nhere:  https:\/\/www.sec.state.ma.us\/OVR .  If residents choose to register<br \/>\nby mail they should download the \u201cMassachusetts Mail-In Voter<br \/>\nRegistration Form\u201d found here:<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.sec.state.ma.us\/ele\/elepdf\/Voter-reg-mail-in.pdf and mail the<br \/>\ncompleted form to the Hanover Town Clerk\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two<br \/>\nconvenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew residents and high school students are strongly encouraged to<br \/>\nregister to vote.  It is the cornerstone of our democracy!\u201d said Town<br \/>\nClerk Catherine Harder-Bernier.  \u201cSeveral major decisions have been made<br \/>\non Town Meeting floor by a one-vote margin and local elections have turned<br \/>\non less than 10 votes just in the past few years.
