{"id":3012,"date":"2017-09-23T14:30:12","date_gmt":"2017-09-23T18:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3012"},"modified":"2017-09-23T14:30:12","modified_gmt":"2017-09-23T18:30:12","slug":"hanover-cultural-councils-call-for-grant-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3012","title":{"rendered":"Hanover Cultural Council&#8217;s call for grant proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are<br \/>\ndue October 15, 2017!<\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline for<br \/>\norganizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support<br \/>\ncultural activities in the community. <\/p>\n<p>According to Council spokesperson Karen Cass, &#8220;these grants can support a<br \/>\nvariety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover &#8212; including<br \/>\nexhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or<br \/>\nperformances in schools, workshops and lectures&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural<br \/>\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC<br \/>\nProgram is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation,<br \/>\nsupporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and<br \/>\nhumanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual<br \/>\nappropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which<br \/>\nthen allocates funds to each community. <\/p>\n<p>This year, the Hanover Cultural Council will distribute about $25,000 in<br \/>\ngrants. Previously funded projects include: The Summer Concert Series at<br \/>\nForge Pond Park in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department,<br \/>\nThe Drama Club Dinner Theater &amp; \u201cBrass Lantern After Dark\u201d programs at<br \/>\nSSVT, funding for a wireless microphone system for the Hanover Performing<br \/>\nArts Company, The Bats and Bat Houses project at Center and Sylvester<br \/>\nSchools, Pastel Painting Workshop, \u201cJust For TEENS\u201d Art Exhibit,<br \/>\nseveral museum passes and children\u2019s programs at the John Curtis Library,<br \/>\nsponsorship of traffic island beautification projects by the Hanover Garden<br \/>\nClub, Mass Audubon and S.S. Natural Science Center Community projects, to<br \/>\nname just a few! <\/p>\n<p>The FY18 Allocation to Hanover from the Mass Cultural Council has not been<br \/>\nofficially announced yet, but will be made available at the end of<br \/>\nSeptember, and additional funds are available, thanks to the tireless<br \/>\nefforts of our Hanover Day Committee. The success of Hanover Day, our<br \/>\nannual town celebration which features an incredible array of live<br \/>\nentertainment, carnival rides, artisans and vendors, a community art<br \/>\nproject, juried art exhibit, anchor art contest, 3 v. 3 Basketball<br \/>\nTournament, countless children\u2019s activities and culminating in a<br \/>\nspectacular fireworks display allows us to give back to the community in<br \/>\nthe form of grants for worthy arts, science and humanities projects<br \/>\nthroughout the year!<\/p>\n<p>For specific guidelines and complete information on the Hanover Cultural<br \/>\nCouncil, contact Karen Cass, Chair at (781) 982-0080, or<br \/>\nkarencass@comcast.net.
