Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Did you receive your Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund (HPSF) mailer this
\nweek? In my core, my academic background, and in my work life, I am an
\neducator. So much of what I do with “Around Town on the Web” is
\neducation.for a new generation of tech-savvy and time-deprived working
\nHanover families. If you are like me, and despite much better intentions,
\nthat mailer is buried under a pile already. So it seems only fitting to use
\nthis space to highlight the HPSF.<\/p>\n
“If you agree that Hanover is a special place and that the young people of
\nour community deserve to pursue their dreams, we hope you will lend your
\nsupport.” (from the HPSF brochure).<\/p>\n
The scholarships given by the Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund will go to
\ndefray the extraordinary expenses awaiting this year’s Hanover High School
\nseniors. Many of you worked hard to support HHS-Yes! and to make the new
\nhigh school a reality for Hanover’s Middle School and elementary school
\nstudents. Left out of the benefit of the new high school, however, will be
\nthe young people graduating from Hanover High School this year and next.
\nLet’s not forget them! The Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund awards
\nscholarships based on both academic achievement as well as financial need.
\nIn this economy, can you imagine how difficult it will be for Hanover
\nfamilies to pay that first year’s tuition bill? I am shuddering at the
\nthought.<\/p>\n
