Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Wednesday,
\nOctober 17th is the last day to register to vote in the State Election.
\nThe Registrar\u2019s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 8:00 p.m. on
\nWednesday the 17th.<\/p>\n
Thanks to new legislation that went into effect in 2016, any Hanover
\ncitizen who is sixteen years of age or older is eligible to register to
\nvote. Citizens who will be eighteen on or before Election Day, November
\n6th, 2018 will then be eligible to actually vote. Once registered and 18
\nyears of age, individuals will be eligible to vote in all elections
\nthereafter, including the Town Election in May 2019.
\nCitizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party
\nstatus on-line, by mail or in person. The link for on-line registration is
\nhere: https:\/\/www.sec.state.ma.us\/OVR . If residents choose to register
\nby mail they should download the \u201cMassachusetts Mail-In Voter
\nRegistration Form\u201d found here:
\nhttp:\/\/www.sec.state.ma.us\/ele\/eleifv\/howreg.htm and mail the completed
\nform to the Hanover Town Clerk\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two
\nconvenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe State Election, or the so-called \u2018mid-term election\u2019 in
\nNovember, will be the largest election until 2020\u201d said Harder-Bernier.
\n\u201cThere are races up and down the ballot \u2013 from Governor and Senator to
\nState Representative \u2013 along with the three ballot questions that have
\nbeen generating interest since the summer. Don\u2019t miss your chance to let
\nyour voice be heard!\u201d<\/p>\n
