Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier is delighted to announce that all
\nregistered voters will once again be able vote before Election Day in
\nMassachusetts this fall. Early voting will begin on October 22nd and
\ncontinue through November 2nd, 2018. Prior to the enactment of this new
\nlaw, the only way a registered voter was allowed to vote prior to Election
\nDay was through absentee voting. Although absentee voting will still be
\navailable for registered voters who qualify, only those who will be absent
\nfrom Hanover on Election Day, or have a disability that prevents them from
\ngoing to the polls, or have a religious belief preventing the same, are
\nlegally allowed to vote by absentee ballot.<\/p>\n
Unlike absentee voting, early voting is for every registered voter.
\nRegistered voters do not need an excuse or reason to vote early. Regardless
\nof whether a voter wants to take advantage of early voting, vote absentee
\nor vote on Election Day, the first step is making sure you are registered.
\nTo check to see if you are registered to vote, and to find information on
\nhow to register to vote, you may visit the Secretary of the
\nCommonwealth\u2019s website: www.sec.state.ma.us\/ele and go to \u201cAm I
\nRegistered to Vote?\u201d If you need to register to vote, you may do so
\nonline by visiting: www.RegisterToVoteMA.com. All you need is a license or
\nan ID issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles to apply online. To be
\neligible to vote in the November 6th State Election, you must register to
\nvote or make any necessary changes to your voter registration by October
\n17th, 2018.<\/p>\n
In Hanover, early voting may be accomplished in person at Hanover Town
\nHall, 550 Hanover Street, during the two weeks of October 22nd \u2013 November
\n2nd on: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m.,
\nWednesdays from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 8:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 12
\nnoon. For the convenience of the public, Hanover Town Clerk Catherine
\nHarder-Bernier has also decided to offer weekend hours on Saturday, October
\n27th, from 10:00 a.m. \u2013 2:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
Please note, however, once a voter has cast an early voting ballot, the
\nvoter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.<\/p>\n
For only the second time in Massachusetts, the first choice all voters will
\nmake is which day to vote. Early voting will make the most fundamental
\nright of our citizens more convenient than ever to exercise. All Hanover
\nresidents are encouraged to exercise that right and take advantage of the
\nopportunity to vote when their schedules allow. <\/p>\n
