Apply now for community arts grants through the Hanover Cultural Council!<\/p>\n
Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are
\ndue October 15th.<\/p>\n
Have you ever wondered what happens with the funds raised at Hanover Day?
\nMoney from our annual celebration, plus Hanover\u2019s share of state cultural
\nfunds, is used to support arts, science, and humanities projects throughout
\nthe year.<\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15, 2019 deadline for
\norganizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants to fund
\ncultural activities in Hanover. These grants can support a variety of arts,
\nscience, and humanities projects, including exhibits, festivals, field
\ntrips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops,
\nand lectures.<\/p>\n
Past events have included the Summer Concert Series by the Parks and
\nRecreation Department, the Drama Club Dinner Theater programs at South
\nShore Vo-Tech, funding for the Hanover Performing Arts Company, Pastel
\nPainting Workshops, the Annual Hanover Day Art Exhibit, Museum of Science
\nOutreach program at Cedar Elementary School, several museum passes and
\nchildren\u2019s programs at the John Curtis Library, and sponsorships of
\nprograms for the Walnut Hill Garden Club, South Shore Natural Science
\nCenter, Hanover senior center, and many others.
\nThis year\u2019s allocation to Hanover from the Massachusetts Cultural Council
\nis $6,200, and additional funds are available thanks to the past success of
\nHanover Day. The Council will meet later this fall to review the
\napplications and award the grants.<\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural
\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The state
\nlegislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural
\nCouncil, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
\nLocal councils are allowed to raise additional money through events like
\nHanover Day.<\/p>\n
