{"id":3461,"date":"2019-09-18T03:00:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-18T07:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3461"},"modified":"2019-09-18T03:00:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T07:00:02","slug":"memory-changes-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3461","title":{"rendered":"Memory changes program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>South Shore Conservatory, in partnership with the Alzheimer\u2019s<br \/>\nAssociation, presents a free South Shore AlzTalks program \u201cChanges in<br \/>\nmemory: When to be Concerned and What to do About Them\u201d on Tuesday,<br \/>\nOctober 1, 6:30 p.m., at the Laura Center for the Arts, 97 Mill Street in<br \/>\nHanover.<\/p>\n<p>Every 65 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer\u2019s<br \/>\ndisease. Alzheimer\u2019s is a burden on those living with the disease, their<br \/>\ncaregivers, our health care systems and the local and federal governments.<br \/>\nAccording to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, Alzheimer\u2019s and other<br \/>\ndementias will cost the nation $290 billion, including $195 billion in<br \/>\nMedicare and Medicaid payments.<br \/>\nThe October 1 event is focused on keeping local communities informed on the<br \/>\nlatest in Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia research.  \u201cAlzTalks is our way of<br \/>\ngiving the public a chance to hear from a local leading researcher on where<br \/>\nwe are today and what is on the horizon for the future,\u201d said Wessler.<\/p>\n<p>Featured speaker Margaret O\u2019Connor, PhD. shares information on brain<br \/>\nchanges associated with memory loss and different types of dementia, early<br \/>\ndetection, progress in clinical trials, risk factors and lifestyle<br \/>\ninterventions. Also included in the discussion is a spotlight on Dr.<br \/>\nO\u2019Connor\u2019s research focusing on helping people determine optimal<br \/>\ninterventions to support brain health such as lifestyle modifications and<br \/>\ncognitive strategies.<\/p>\n<p>The AlzTalks program is free and open to the public, but registration is<br \/>\nencouraged.
