Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that 2020 Town
\nof Hanover dog licenses are now available on-line, by mail, or in the
\nHanover Town Clerk\u2019s Office. The licensing period is January 1, 2020 \u2013
\nMarch 31, 2020, and a $10 late fee applies beginning April 1, 2020. All
\ndogs over the age of 6 months are required by law to be licensed. The
\nlicense is good for one year, and costs $10 for spayed or neutered dogs,
\nand $15 for intact dogs. Residents over the age of 70 will be given a free
\nlicense for their vaccinated dog upon proof of the owner\u2019s age.
\nIn an effort to make this process easy for residents, there are several
\nways to license your dog. <\/p>\n
\u2022\tMost folks who have licensed their dogs in the past won’t yet have a
\nGoPetie (Hanover\u2019s new dog license software) account, but it\u2019s easy to
\nvisit

\nand retrieve your pet\u2019s information and establish your account. Enter
\nyour first and last names, house number, and select a street name from the
\ndrop down menu. The answers must match with what you already have in the
\nsystem so that you don\u2019t create a duplicate record or have to re-enter
\nthe existing dog information. When matched, the system will show your
\npet(s) name(s) and will ask you to confirm. After confirmation, you will
\nbe asked to enter an email address, create a password, and then you will be
\ntaken to your account where you can update any info needed, pay the fee(s)
\nand submit the license application for review. <\/p>\n
\u2022\tResidents may also fill out the dog license application that is found
\non the Town Clerk\u2019s section of the Town of Hanover\u2019s website at:

\n. This is the same application that was included in the census mailing
\nthis year. Completed forms may be mailed in with your payment, proof of
\ncurrent rabies vaccination and proof of spaying or neutering (if you have
\nnot submitted that information previously) to: Town Clerk\u2019s Office, 550
\nHanover Street, Hanover, MA 02339, and your tag will be mailed back to
\nyou. <\/p>\n
\u2022\tAs has always been the case, dog licenses may also be obtained in
\nperson at the Town Clerk\u2019s Office during normal business hours. Please
\nbring the same paperwork \u2013 current rabies vaccination, proof of
\nspaying\/neutering if you have not submitted that information previously,
\nand your cash or check payable to the Town of Hanover.<\/p>\n
Unlicensed dogs are subject to a minimum of a $25 fine, with an additional
\n$25 fine if unleashed and another fine of $50 if unvaccinated for rabies.
