{"id":3524,"date":"2020-01-23T23:47:58","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T03:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3524"},"modified":"2020-01-23T23:47:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T03:47:58","slug":"nomination-papers-are-available-for-local-elected-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3524","title":{"rendered":"Nomination papers are available for local elected office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced yesterday that<br \/>\nnomination papers are now available in her office for the Annual Town<br \/>\nElection scheduled to be held May 9th, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElection Day is set for May 9th and signed nomination papers are due<br \/>\nMarch 20th, 2020.  At this point in the year, there are a total of ten<br \/>\nanticipated open seats.  On the ballot this spring will be elections for<br \/>\ntwo members of the Board of Selectmen for a three year term, two members of<br \/>\nthe School Committee for a three year term, one member of the Board of<br \/>\nAssessors for a three year term, one member of the Planning Board for a<br \/>\nfive year term and one for a one year term, one Board of Health member for<br \/>\na three year term, one Trustee of the Public Library for a three year term,<br \/>\nand one Moderator for a one year term\u201d, said Harder-Bernier.<\/p>\n<p>Interested residents are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk\u2019s Office,<br \/>\nany of the related departments, or sitting members of the board or<br \/>\ncommittee they are interested in becoming a part of in order to gain more<br \/>\ninformation about an open position.  <\/p>\n<p>To run for office, candidates only need to obtain 50 signatures of<br \/>\nregistered Hanover voters in order to be placed on the ballot.  Candidates<br \/>\nfor office have until Friday, March 20th to submit the signed nomination<br \/>\npapers to the Registrar\u2019s Office for signature certification.
