Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier is delighted to announce that all
\nregistered voters will be able vote early before the Presidential Primary
\nin Massachusetts. Early voting will begin on February 24th and continue
\nthrough February 28th, 2020. Prior to the enactment of this new law, the
\nonly way a registered voter was allowed to vote prior to Election Day was
\nthrough absentee voting. Although absentee voting will still be available
\nfor registered voters who qualify, only those who will be absent from
\nHanover on Election Day, or have a disability that prevents them from going
\nto the polls, or have a religious belief preventing the same, are legally
\nallowed to vote by absentee ballot.<\/p>\n
Unlike absentee voting, early voting is for every registered voter.
\nRegistered voters do not need an excuse or reason to vote early. <\/p>\n
In Hanover, early voting may be accomplished in person at Hanover Town
\nHall, 550 Hanover Street, during the week of February 24 \u2013 28th on:
\nMonday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m., Wednesday from
\n8:00 a.m. \u2013 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 12 noon. The
\nlegislature has allowed for Early Voting on these 5 days; a Saturday
\nsession is not possible for this election. Regardless, counting Election
\nDay March 3, voters now have a choice of 6 different days to fit voting
\ninto their schedule.<\/p>\n
Please note, however, once a voter has cast an early voting ballot, the
\nvoter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.<\/p>\n
For only the third time in Massachusetts, the first choice all voters will
\nmake is which day to vote. Early voting will make the most fundamental
\nright of our citizens more convenient than ever to exercise. All Hanover
\nresidents are encouraged to exercise that right and take advantage of the
\nopportunity to vote when their schedules allow. <\/p>\n
