Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
I have received and read communications from several different
\nindividuals\/groups who are trying to support our local health care workers
\nby sewing hospital masks at home. As you have probably heard, there is a
\nnationwide shortage…or will be shortly…of hospital masks. I’ve asked a
\nfew questions, and have the following information to share.<\/p>\n
Long-time Hanover resident and seamstress Valerie Romano-Osborne is making
\nand collecting masks as fast as she can. She’s a full-time essential
\nworker, though, so her time is limited, too. She would love some
\nassistance from anyone with a sewing machine and a few minutes. Please
\nleave your masks in the bin on her front porch at 1558 Broadway. She’s
\nworking with the folks at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and will get them
\nthere.<\/p>\n
Mercy Sews, the Holy Mother’s Collaborative ministry, is also currently
\nsewing hospital masks to help in the effort to keep hospital nurses and
\nworkers safe in this coronavirus pandemic. Patterns for sewing are
\navailable at their website, which is found at www.MercySew.org. Those who
\nsew are encouraged to take reasonable health precautions while making the
\nmasks, and the folks at the hospital will “wash and check all masks for
\npermeability” before they get used. They presently have arrangements at
\nBrigham and Women\u2019s and Mass General to accept them and the volunteers to
\nget them there. You may drop off any finished masks at 308 Dillingham Way,
\nHanover between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily. Please drive down the driveway
\nand place masks in available totes located in the garage, or contact Clare
\nNoonan at MercySews@comcast.net .<\/p>\n
Both of these folks are coordinating their efforts, so just drop your masks
\nin whichever bin is closest to you – in the northeast or southwest corners
\nof town!<\/p>\n
