As you have probably heard, there is a
nationwide shortage…or will be shortly…of hospital masks. I’ve asked a
few questions, and have the following information to share.

Long-time Hanover resident and seamstress Valerie Romano-Osborne is making
and collecting masks as fast as she can. She’s a full-time essential
worker, though, so her time is limited, too. She would love some
assistance from anyone with a sewing machine and a few minutes. Please
leave your masks in the bin on her front porch at 1558 Broadway. She’s
working with the folks at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and will get them
there.

Mercy Sews, the Holy Mother’s Collaborative ministry, is also currently
sewing hospital masks to help in the effort to keep hospital nurses and
workers safe in this coronavirus pandemic. Patterns for sewing are
available at their website, which is found at www.MercySew.org. Those who
sew are encouraged to take reasonable health precautions while making the
masks, and the folks at the hospital will “wash and check all masks for
permeability” before they get used. They presently have arrangements at
Brigham and Women’s and Mass General to accept them and the volunteers to
get them there. You may drop off any finished masks at 308 Dillingham Way,
Hanover between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily. Please drive down the driveway
and place masks in available totes located in the garage, or contact Clare
Noonan at MercySews@comcast.net .

Both of these folks are coordinating their efforts, so just drop your masks
in whichever bin is closest to you – in the northeast or southwest corners
of town!

Again, for more information, contact mercysews@comcast.net .

For “Around Town on the Web”,
Cathy H-B

—
“Around Town on the Web” (“ATOTW”) has been a valued push notification
since the spring of 2004 – long before there were push notifications!

For submission guidelines and answers to frequently asked questions about
“ATOTW”, please go to
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=xodILJYEX7y5AydNykl3Xg2Ot79VnaeZlTqVgfRmJDFoqLt7nDNoRqoN783ZLADJ
To search for archived “ATOTW” news, view the archive

.
If you would like to be added to this distribution list, click here

.
Please follow the link in the response e-mail to validate your account.
