Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that late fees for dog
\nlicenses will be temporarily waived. Said late fees would have otherwise
\ngone into effect beginning April 1, 2020. Instead, the late fees will be
\nwaived throughout the duration of the Commonwealth\u2019s \u201cStay at Home\u201d
\nadvisory, and for an additional 14 days thereafter, thereby mirroring the
\ntwo weeks \u201clost\u201d at the end of March for so many people. Right now,
\nthe \u201cStay at Home\u201d advisory expires April 7th, so the fee waiver period
\nwill end April 21st. The regular license fees will still apply; those are
\nlisted here:

\u201cI recognize that the COVID-19 \u201cStay at Home\u201d advisory in the
\nCommonwealth has made simple transactions like licensing your dog much more
\nchallenging for many people. Further, while the $10 late fee is not a
\nlarge fee, $10 is a lot of money for a family with a dog and newly
\nunemployed parents,\u201d said Harder-Bernier. \u201cI hope this small gesture
\nhelps to ease the to-do lists and financial burdens for Hanover residents
\neven a little bit\u201d, she continued.<\/p>\n
