Town of Hanover Mobile Integrated Health Pandemic Response Plan
\nService begins today!
\nHours: 8:00 a.m. \u2013 6:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
A State of Emergency currently exists in response to the global pandemic of
\nCOVID-19 virus. In expectation of a growing number of cases, the
\nCommonwealth of Massachusetts has encouraged communities to develop
\nprograms that might help to safely limit the number of patients seeking
\ncare or testing at hospitals. <\/p>\n
The Town of Hanover, collaboratively with all of its departments has
\ndeveloped a program to address the needs of its most at-risk citizens.
\nLimitations like social distancing and quarantine create obstacles to
\nmedical care, especially for the isolated elderly and other socially and
\nmedically vulnerable populations. <\/p>\n
Therefore, the Board of Health announces the availability of in-home
\nparamedic visits, testing if criteria are met, and patient follow-up phone
\ncalls, by Hanover nurses, for eligible citizens. Residents 65 or older and
\nother at-risk residents, who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough,
\nand\/or shortness of breath may call the non-emergency telephone number
\n(781-826-2335 then press ZERO) at the Emergency Communications Center to
\nrequest an in-home evaluation by a paramedic. The service may also be
\ninitiated directly by your physician or by the Telehealth services of your
\nprovider network. <\/p>\n
A qualified paramedic in appropriate protective gear will visit, conduct an
\nevaluation, and through South Shore Health System\u2019s Telehealth service,
\nwill contact a doctor or nurse practitioner to convey the patient\u2019s
\nstatus. They may authorize the collection of a testing sample and\/or
\nschedule an appointment for follow-up. <\/p>\n
Regardless of the results, the patient will be eligible for follow-up via
\ntelephone by a nurse volunteer who will evaluate current symptoms
\n(better\/same\/worse) and facilitate appropriate medical response.<\/p>\n
