Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Mercy Sews, a ministry of the Holy Mothers Collaborative in Hanover, is
\nseeking new members to sew masks for the Navajo Nation, the largest Indian
\nreservation in the United States, that now has the highest per capita rate
\nof Covid-19 in the country, higher even than New York.<\/p>\n
Mercy Sews was originally formed in 2016 to sew dresses and ship tee shirts
\nfor girls and boys to the Central African Republic, one of the poorest
\ncountries on earth. So far, the ministry has sent more than 3,000 dresses
\nand 3,700 tee shirts to Africa. <\/p>\n
In the face of the pandemic, however, the ministry temporarily shifted its
\nfocus to help those on the front lines fighting the virus locally. Mercy
\nSews provided more than 2,000 masks to hospitals and health care facilities
\nsuch as Brockton Hospital, the South Shore Visiting Nurses Association, and
\nthe Brockton VA Hospital, as well as other institutions including local
\nnursing homes, hospices, food banks, and the Suffolk County Women\u2019s
\nCorrectional facility.<\/p>\n
Although Mercy Sews is a Catholic ministry, they welcome people of all
\nfaiths who would like to join them in helping the Navajo Nation and others
