Apply now for community arts grants through the Hanover Cultural Council.<\/p>\n
Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are
\ndue November 16. <\/p>\n
Despite continued uncertainty with the Commonwealth\u2019s FY21 budget, the
\nMassachusetts Cultural Council and its local affiliate in Hanover have
\nopened the process to apply for grants for the coming year. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council uses its share of state cultural funds, in
\naddition to money raised at Hanover Day, to support arts, science, and
\nhumanities projects throughout the year. Although Hanover Day 2020 was
\ncanceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the local Council still expects
\nto receive state funding once the budget is finalized. The exact amount has
\nyet to be determined. <\/p>\n
November 16, 2020 is the deadline for organizations, schools, and
\nindividuals to apply for grants to fund cultural activities in Hanover.
\nThese grants can support a variety of arts, science, and humanities
\nprojects, including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist
\nresidencies or performances in schools, workshops, and lectures.
\nApplications and more information about the program are available online at

Past events have included the Summer Concert Series by the Parks and
\nRecreation Department, the Drama Club Dinner Theater programs at South
\nShore Vo-Tech, funding for the Hanover Performing Arts Company, Pastel
\nPainting Workshops, the Annual Hanover Day Art Exhibit, Museum of Science
\nOutreach program at Cedar Elementary School, several museum passes and
\nchildren\u2019s programs at the John Curtis Library, and sponsorships of
\nprograms for the Walnut Hill Garden Club, South Shore Natural Science
\nCenter, Hanover senior center, and many others. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural
\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The state
\nlegislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural
\nCouncil, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
\nLocal councils are allowed to raise additional money through events like
\nHanover Day. <\/p>\n
