Consistent with the Halloween activity guidance released by the Centers for
\nDisease Control and Prevention and the Massachusetts Department of Health,
\nsome things to keep in mind in celebrating Halloween this year include:<\/p>\n
\u2022\tEnjoy Halloween outside rather than attending indoor events
\n\u2022\tPlace candy on a platter instead of a bowl
\n\u2022\tInstead of traditional trick or treating, opt for one-way
\ntrick-or-treating, with treats placed outside of the home for
\ntrick-or-treaters as a \u201cgrab and go\u201d while keeping distance from others
\n\u2022\tConsider leaving hand sanitizer by any treats left out for
\ntrick-or-treaters to use
\n\u2022\tWear a face mask or face covering. For more information on face masks
\nand face coverings, please go to the state\u2019s Mask Up MA webpage.
\no\tA costume mask is not a substitute for a face mask or face covering. To
\nprotect yourself and others, ensure you are wearing a protective face mask
\nor covering instead of or in addition to a costume mask.
\n\u2022\tObserve good hand hygiene, including handwashing and use of
\nalcohol-based sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol. Carry hand sanitizer
\nand use it often, especially after coming into contact with frequently
\ntouched surfaces and before eating candy.
\n\u2022\tRefrain from touching your face
\n\u2022\tDecorate your yard for others to enjoy from their car or while on a
\nsocially-distanced walk
\n\u2022\tHold virtual costume contests or pumpkin carving events
\n\u2022\tCelebrate with members of your household with a Halloween-themed meal,
\nHalloween movie night, or by preparing a Halloween scavenger hunt
\n\u2022\tMaintain social distancing of at least 6 feet of physical distance from
\nall other participants who are not members of the same household<\/p>\n
What to Avoid:
\n\u2022\tAttending crowded costume parties held indoors, or any gatherings that
\nexceed indoor or outdoor gathering limits;
\n\u2022\tGoing to an indoor haunted house where people may be crowded together
\nand screaming; and
\n\u2022\tGoing on hayrides or tractor rides with people who are not in your
\nhousehold.
\n\u2022\tIndoor haunted houses; and
\n\u2022\tHayrides or tractor rides with people who are not in your household.<\/p>\n
Stay home and refrain from Halloween activities, including handing out
\nHalloween treats, if:
\no\tyou feel unwell;
\no\tyou have tested positive for COVID-19;
\no\tyou have been exposed to someone with COVID-19; or
\no\tyou have traveled to or from a state that is not classified as lower risk
\nwithin the last 14 days. For more information on lower-risk states, please
\nsee the state\u2019s COVID-19 Travel Order webpage.<\/p>\n
Residents and communities should follow safe and healthy tips to
\nparticipate in Halloween activities that may limit the risk of exposure to
\nCOVID-19. As a reminder, any Halloween activities are subject to the
\ncurrent state gathering size limits as well as applicable sector-specific
