Cardinal Cushing Centers\u2019 MarketPlace Building, open since early
\nDecember, is selling a variety of products for Valentine\u2019s Day, all made
\nby the students and adults with intellectual disabilities that Cushing
\nsupports.<\/p>\n
Products include Wish Bracelets, handmade Heart Pins, and Love Bugs \u2013
\nadorable, hand-painted and decorated rocks with personalities \u2013 paired
\nwith a whimsical poem. Please see the attached photos! If you don\u2019t find
\nwhat you\u2019re looking for in the Unique Boutique, you can pop into the Take
\n2 thrift store and find all kinds of items to help you celebrate the
\nholiday, or the Cushing Caf\u00e9 for a sweet treat.<\/p>\n
The new MarketPlace Building, visible and accessible directly from Route
\n53, is a 20,000 square foot, environmentally friendly building that houses
\nthe Cushing Caf\u00e9, Take 2 thrift store, and Unique Boutique gift shop,
\nalong with state-of-the-art training classrooms. Located at 120 Columbia
\nRoad, the Caf\u00e9 is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
\nand the Unique Boutique and Take 2 thrift stores are open from 10:00 a.m.
\nto 2:00 p.m., also Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n
The MarketPlace provides employment training to Cushing students and job
\nopportunities to adults with disabilities. With the retail shops more
\nvisible and accessible to passersby on Route 53, Cushing Centers is
\nincreasing the number of customers they serve, enhancing job training so
\ntheir students are better prepared to obtain paying jobs in the community.
\nPart of Cushing\u2019s mission is to remove barriers to integration and to
\ncreate meaningful employment opportunities for people of all abilities. <\/p>\n
Along with the addition of the Bethany Apartments, 37 units of workforce
\nhousing that were added to Cushing neighborhood in 2017, the MarketPlace
\nBuilding plays an important role in fulfilling Cushing\u2019s vision for an
\ninclusive community where people with and without disabilities live, work,
\nlearn, shop, and socialize together. <\/p>\n
So, you can shop for a cause this Valentine\u2019s Day and feel even better
\nabout your local purchases. Revenue from the sales helps sustain the

Cardinal Cushing Centers, Inc. is in the business of changing lives. A
\nnon-profit organization founded in Hanover, MA in 1947, Cushing Centers
\nbegan as a day and residential school for students with intellectual
\ndisabilities. With additional locations in Braintree, Cushing now supports
\nover 600 individuals of all ages, with the goal of helping each student and
\nadult to become included and independent members of society. Programs
\ninclude, among others, affordable housing, community programs, education,
