\nuseful in the office you are seeking.
\nI am currently a member of the Hanover School Committee. I have served
\nthree terms on the Hanover School Committee (2011 \u2013 2014, 2015 \u2013 2018,
\n2018-2021), taking a year off to begin my tenure as Chair of the Center
\nSchool Building Committee. In these capacities, I have worked diligently to
\nimprove our public education in Hanover, including the hiring of new school
\nadministrators, advocating for increases in our school budget to ensure our
\nschools are properly funded with greater transparency for taxpayers,
\nimplementing full-day kindergarten, construction and renovation of the
\nCenter Elementary School, the reconfiguration of our elementary schools and
\nre-structuring our educational framework during the pandemic. In addition
\nto my involvement with the schools, I am an active volunteer in the
\ncommunity, currently President and Founder of A Simple Gesture \u2013 Hanover,
\nwhich ensures consistent and predictable donations to the Hanover Food
\nPantry and Vice-President of the Hanover Food Pantry. Prior to my service
\non the School Committee, I worked at Kopelman and Paige, as a public sector
\nmunicipal attorney with primary areas of practice being employment \/ labor
\nand school law.<\/p>\n
What are the major issues confronting the town which involve your office?
\nPlease express your opinion on these issues and how you propose to deal
\nwith them.
\nThe well-being and education of our children, while always a Hanover
\npriority, has been at the forefront of community discussion this past year.
\n The hard work of many provided Hanover with a strong school and town-wide
\ninfrastructure which allowed our school district to be a state-wide leader
\nin providing educational access for remote learning, as well as forging a
\nsafe return to schools. While this past year has been unprecedented, the
\nnext year(s) will also present significant challenges as our educational
\nsystem recovers. Moving forward, our focus must be on providing students
\nwith stability, mental health support and compensation for lost learning
\ntime. Accountability, instructional standards, and effective curriculum are
\ncritical. I believe my years of service on the committee, experience and
\nknowledge of the educational system, my devotion to the best interests of
\nstudents and my demonstrated ability to successfully advocate for our
\nschools and students benefit our schools, students, and families. <\/p>\n
Why are you running for this office?
\nSecond only to a loving home, a strong education is the most important
\nresource you can provide a child. Our students deserve the best resources,
\nexciting learning opportunities and most importantly, a safe place to
\nlearn. I am passionate about education, devoted to our community and
\nconsistently put the best interests of our students before all else.<\/p>\n
