{"id":3714,"date":"2021-05-11T19:15:32","date_gmt":"2021-05-11T23:15:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3714"},"modified":"2021-05-11T19:15:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-11T23:15:32","slug":"hanover-town-meeting-approves-cpa-funding-for-sylvester-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3714","title":{"rendered":"Hanover Town Meeting Approves CPA Funding for Sylvester Field!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, May 4th, at the Hanover Annual Town Meeting, the residents of<br \/>\nHanover unanimously voted to approve the use of $250,000 in Community<br \/>\nPreservation Act (CPA) funds to help save Sylvester Field. Kudos to Open<br \/>\nSpace Committee co-chair Hal Thomas for his outstanding presentation of the<br \/>\nproject to Town Meeting.  Thanks also to Hanover Historical Commission<br \/>\nChair Peter Johnson for his informative presentation evoking the Field\u2019s<br \/>\nrich history.  <\/p>\n<p>The Town of Hanover, as project partner, will be purchasing the<br \/>\nConservation Restriction (\u201cCR\u201d) on the Field with the CPA funds.  The<br \/>\nTown-held CR over the Field will allow for a range of passive recreational<br \/>\nactivities such as hiking and cross-country skiing and will include<br \/>\nprovisions allowing for a trailhead parking area.  The CR will also allow<br \/>\nfor habitat management, improvement, and restoration, as well as the<br \/>\nmaintenance of the stone wall that is such a prominent feature of its road<br \/>\nfrontage which will be carried out by Wildlands Trust.  <\/p>\n<p>Wildlands Trust, the regional land trust for southeastern Massachusetts,<br \/>\nhas been aggressively fundraising in the community, headed up by a<br \/>\ndedicated team of residents to preserve the Field, one of Hanover\u2019s most<br \/>\nbeloved and iconic landscapes.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all those community donors and the Hanover Capital Campaign<br \/>\nCommittee who have supported the project thus far.  The Hanover Capital<br \/>\nCampaign Committee, doing a great job leading the local fundraising with<br \/>\nWildlands Trust, consists of Chairman Caleb Estabrooks, Peter Finnegan,<br \/>\nMarilyn Hartney, Dan Jones, Maura Longueil, Anne and Tim Porter, Hal<br \/>\nThomas, Peter and Paula Tyack, Sandra Moll, Cindy Newton, Jane Estabrooks,<br \/>\nand Julia Traggorth.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s still an opportunity for new donors to donate to help raise the<br \/>\nlast $60,000 needed to meet the community fundraising target of $150,000.<br \/>\nA substantial match opportunity for gifts: 2 to 1 for gifts $500 and under<br \/>\nand 1 to 1 for gifts from $5,000 to $501 has been offered by a generous<br \/>\nanonymous donor.
