{"id":3822,"date":"2022-04-27T13:00:24","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T17:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3822"},"modified":"2022-04-27T13:00:24","modified_gmt":"2022-04-27T17:00:24","slug":"need-an-absentee-ballot-mailed-to-a-voter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=3822","title":{"rendered":"Need an absentee ballot MAILED to a voter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>In response to a specific question about the deadline for absentee ballots<br \/>\nto be MAILED to a voter, the following information has been updated.<br \/>\nPlease note the section in all CAPS below.<\/p>\n<p>Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that absentee ballot<br \/>\napplications are available now in the Hanover Town Clerk\u2019s Office for all<br \/>\nvoters living in Hanover wishing to vote by absentee ballot in the Annual<br \/>\nTown Election.  The election will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Please note!  The \u201cno-excuse absentee voting\u201d emergency law provision,<br \/>\nalso known as \u201cearly voting\u201d, that was enacted during COVID-19 has<br \/>\nexpired.  By law, you can only vote absentee or early with an excuse for<br \/>\nthis election.<\/p>\n<p>Absentee ballot applications are for use by registered voters who are<br \/>\nunable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to:<br \/>\n1)\t Absence from the Town of Hanover during normal polling hours (8:00 a.m.<br \/>\n\u2013 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th); or<br \/>\n2)\tPhysical disability preventing you from going to the polling place; or<br \/>\n3)\tReligious belief;<\/p>\n<p>OR they are for use by<br \/>\nNon-registered voters who are:<br \/>\n1)\t A Massachusetts citizen absent from the state; or<br \/>\n2)\tAn active member of the armed forces or merchant marines, their spouse<br \/>\nor dependent; or<br \/>\n3)\tA person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by<br \/>\nreason of felony conviction.<\/p>\n<p>APPLICATIONS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS TO BE MAILED MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00<br \/>\nP.M. ON THE 4TH BUSINESS DAY BEFORE THE ELECTION, IN THIS CASE, BY 5:00<br \/>\nP.M. ON TUESDAY, MAY 3RD.
