The public is invited to attend.  <\/p>\n<p>In what was formally known as \u201cAmerican Legion Function Hall\u201d, Post 149<br \/>\nwill rededicate and rename its historic function hall to \u201cCentennial<br \/>\nHall\u201d. The new name, Centennial Hall, is based on the 100-year founding<br \/>\nof the American Legion in 1919. Post 149 will recognize the local veterans,<br \/>\nfamilies, friends, local community groups, public officials, Scouts, and<br \/>\nothers who have contributed to the great success of Hanover\u2019s American<br \/>\nLegion.<\/p>\n<p>The American Legion was founded in March 1919, in Paris, France, by U.S.<br \/>\nWorld War I military personnel. They dedicated themselves to four pillars<br \/>\nof service and advocacy: veterans, military personnel, youth, and patriotic<br \/>\nvalues. National membership combined with the American Legion Auxiliary and<br \/>\nSons of the American Legion exceeds 3 million. Today, there are<br \/>\napproximately 13,000 local posts worldwide.  The American Legion has been<br \/>\ninstrumental in the creation of a number of major institutions in American<br \/>\nsociety, including the formation of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the<br \/>\ncreation of the U.S. Flag Code, the passage of the GI Bill, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The local Post 149, founded in 1946, takes pride in assisting veterans in<br \/>\nneed locally and overseas, including the Nathan Hale Foundation, ALS ONE,<br \/>\nThe Fisher House (which houses families of veterans at the VA Hospital),<br \/>\nJared Allen\u2019s Homes for Wounded Warriors, Weymouth Police Officer<br \/>\nChesna\u2019s Family Fund and local high school scholarships, just to name a<br \/>\nfew.<\/p>\n<p>Post 149 acknowledges everyone for their support during this rededication<br \/>\nceremony especially the Hanover Scouts for their replacement of the new<br \/>\nawning. Please join the good folks at the Post 149 on June 28th, at 12:00<br \/>\npm noon, for the special ceremony of \u201cCentennial Hall\u201d. Refreshments<br \/>\nwill be served.
