Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This morning’s e-mail regarding the break-in in
\nHanover prompted some excellent electronic discussion regarding safety issues
\nin Hanover.  Yesterday’s early release from school for our children
\nadded another layer of implication, too.  What follows are some tips I
\nheard from fellow residents that I thought bear repeating for all of us:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

·       
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Review as a family what to do in case of an
\nemergency…especially if an older child will be home alone.<\/p>\n

·       
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Talk about who is generally home during the day
\nin your neighborhood with your kids…so they know who to call if they need
\nreassurance.<\/p>\n

·       
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Do you and your children have 911 “In Case
\nof an Emergency” on speed dial?  Do your kids know your work and
\ncell numbers?  How about those neighbors’ numbers?  Are all
\nthose numbers in their cell phone directories?<\/p>\n

·       
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Encourage your kids to never go anywhere without
\na buddy…even if they are only playing in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

·       
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>The Hanover Parks and Recreation Babysitting
\nCourse provides great “In Case of an Emergency” information for both
\nbabysitters and older children who are given the freedom to stay home alone. 
\nContact the Parks and Recreation Department at 781-826-PLAY for future course
\ndates.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now is the time to have those conversations with OUR kids. 
\nAs they say, an ounce of prevention…<\/p>\n
