But there are days and times when my worlds collide
for the greater good, and today was one of those days. Hence, this
e-blast.

A woman very shyly came to my work counter this afternoon. When I realized
she was there, I of course asked her how I could help her. My assistant
was out today, and there was no one else around, but she nevertheless said,
“could you come closer?”. We’ve been crazy busy in my office over the past
few months due to the election, so it was a rare moment with a singular
resident for me. I gladly stepped forward. As it turns out, she had heard
a rumor about a new rental assistance program that the town had just
started, and she wanted more information, but she didn’t want anyone to
know that she was asking. I vaguely remembered reading something in the
midst of running the election, but I knew next to nothing, other than it
sounded familiar. She clearly wanted our conversation to stay
confidential, so I dug in to see what I could find.

A little bit of digging on the Town’s website and a discussion with the
Town Manager and his assistant later, and I am delighted to share the
following information with ATOTW readers! Long before working for the
Town, I worked for the Pine Street Inn in Boston, and this program sounds a
little like the rental assistance programs we used to offer our guests. I
am thrilled that the members of the Affordable Housing Trust, Town Finance
Director, Community Services Director and Town Manager have recognized that
the extraordinary cost of housing in Hanover is not just a big city
problem.

Please share this information with your neighbors and friends: go to
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=NoGnExfE9D+2LU699M4lRpuCdvnB/FgHjBaC5Hl8DS9oqLt7nDOoRqoN783ZLADJ
to read more, and go to:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=/T2lGS3Cw1KFUTazxcbra5uCdvnB/AgHjBaC5Hl8DS9oqLt7nDNoRqoN783ZLADJ
for the application. Contact names and e-mail addresses are on that first
page. And I am always happy to print out an application or be a cog in the
wheel to help shy people at my counter. Hopefully this e-blast helps too.

For “Around Town on the Web”,
Cathy H-B

—
“Around Town on the Web” (“ATOTW”) has been a valued push notification
since the spring of 2004 – long before there were push notifications!

For submission guidelines and answers to frequently asked questions about
“ATOTW”, please go to
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=xodILJYEz7y5AydNykl3XpuCdvnB/GgHjBaC5Hl8DS9oqLt7nDN4RqoN783ZLADJ
To search for archived “ATOTW” news, view the archive

.
If you would like to be added to this distribution list, click here

.
Please follow the link in the response e-mail to validate your account.
