Join the Hanover Open Space Committee, Wildlands Trust, and the North and
\nSouth Rivers Watershed Association for a walk in Hanover on Saturday, May
\n13 at 9:00 a.m. as they officially unveil the new Mattakeeset Trail and
\n“Chapman’s Landing Overlook”. The completion of the Mattakeeset Trail
\nrepresents the final “piece of the puzzle” in the Indian Head River Trail
\nsystem, a network of over six miles of interconnected trails along the
\nIndian Head and North Rivers. This shared project was completed by the
\nIndian Head River Trail Coalition: the towns of Hanover, Pembroke, Hanson,
\nthe North and South River Watershed Association, and Wildlands Trust.<\/p>\n
The group will meet in the parking lot on the Hanover side of Luddam’s Ford
\nat 8:45 a.m. and walk the new Mattakeeset trail which crosses land that is
\nowned by Plymouth County and runs along the north side of the Indian Head
\nRiver. From there you’ll head off around the Chapman’s Landing\/Iron Mine
\nloop and stop to see the new “Chapman’s Landing Overlook”. This post and
\nbeam North River viewing platform was constructed by volunteers under the
\nguidance of the Hanover Open Space Committee.<\/p>\n
The hike should be completed in under 2 hours and will be approximately 2.2
\nmiles in length over relatively flat trails. This area can be muddy, so
\nplease wear appropriate footwear. For more information, contact
