Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
The Town of Hanover will honor and remember the courageous men and women
\nwho made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation on Monday, May 29,
\n2023. The Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is a time-honored
\ntradition that embodies the true spirit of patriotism and unity. <\/p>\n
Hanover’s Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
\nat Saint Mary’s Church, 392 Hanover Street. The parade will commence with
\nthe stirring sound of the Hanover High School Marching Band resonating
\nthrough the streets of Hanover Center. Once at Hanover Center Cemetery,
\nthose in attendance will honor and memorialize various veterans\u2019 plots,
\nincluding the Josselyn and Cummings World War I memorial, the Tomb of the
\nUnknown Soldier, the police and fire deceased memorials, and the American
\nLegion and Veterans of Foreign Wars memorials. Following that, the parade
\nwill march toward the Civil War Memorial (by the cannons across from Town
\nHall). There, marchers will memorialize the Civil War as well as the
\nKorean, Vietnam, and World War II veterans. The parade will then proceed to
\nthe Sylvester School building, where they will memorialize World War I
\nsoldiers, and then end at the Hanover Veterans Memorial.<\/p>\n
The Ceremony following the Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Veterans
\nMemorial, located at 495 Hanover Street. The ceremony includes an opening
\nprayer, remarks from our veterans, and a roll call while laying a wreath.
\nThe event will be a testament to the enduring gratitude and deep respect
\nthat Hanover holds for those who have given everything for our freedom.<\/p>\n
This Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is an opportunity for residents of
\nthe town to come together as a community, to remember, and to honor.
\nParking is available at the Veterans Memorial, located next to B. Everett
\nHall Field, Saint Mary’s Church, and Center School.<\/p>\n
