Thanks to the good folks in the Hanover Public Schools Guidance Department
\nfor their connections that made the following programs happen!<\/p>\n
The Mental Health Action Team, an arm of the Fogg Outreach Committee of the
\nFirst Parish of Norwell, is delighted to announce that two free public
\nprograms for parents of children of all ages will be held in October of
\n2023.<\/p>\n
The first program is titled \u201cPeaceful Parenting\u201d, and will include
\nstrategies to help parents to:
\n\u2022\tbuild an authentic and compassionate relationship with their child,
\n\u2022\tlearn how to model effective communication and thoughtful responses,
\n\u2022\tset boundaries using structure and routine to encourage positive
\nbehaviors,
\n\u2022\tdevise strategies for concentration, coping skills, stress management
\nand sleep,
\n\u2022\tfocus on your child\u2019s strengths, building self-esteem and decision
\nmaking,
\n\u2022\tunderstand the positive impacts of mindfulness, and
\n\u2022\tcreate a peaceful home environment.<\/p>\n
The \u201cPeaceful Parenting\u201d session will be held Sunday, October 15th from
\n11:30 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m. in the Meeting House of First Parish of Norwell,
\n24 River Street in Norwell.<\/p>\n
The second program is titled \u201cAnxiety and Stress Management\u201d will take
\na deeper dive into parenting children with anxiety and provide strategies
\nfor stress management. It will be held Sunday, October 22nd from 11:30
\na.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Meeting House of First Parish of Norwell, 24 River
\nStreet in Norwell.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to host these programs with Educational Psychologist
\nLinda Price\u201d, said First Parish of Norwell\u2019s Mental Health Action Team
\nmember Cathy Harder-Bernier. \u201cLinda came to us through our connections
\nwith the Hanover Public School\u2019s Guidance Department and was highly
\nrecommended by them. We\u2019ve seen her in action since then and know that
\nshe will bring valuable information and skills to parents of children of
\nall ages\u201d, Harder-Bernier continued.<\/p>\n
Both programs will be simulcast on Zoom for those unable to attend in

The sessions will build on each other but will also stand alone for those
\nunable to attend both. Both sessions are free and open to the public.
\nFree childcare will also be available. If it is nice out, the kids will be
\nout on the playground!<\/p>\n
The presenter, Linda R. Price, is a Licensed Educational Psychologist who
\nprovides individual and group counseling, social emotional learning groups,
\nand parent consultation and workshops through her private practice,
\nWellness Empowerment ( www.wellnessempowerment.care ) in Scituate, MA. She
\nspecializes in working with youth coping with ADHD, Autism Spectrum
\nDisorders, anxiety, social and executive function struggles, and learning
\ndifferences. Linda earned her Masters of Education Degree in School
\nAdjustment Counseling and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in
\nSchool Psychology at Northeastern University. In building her expertise,
\nLinda became certified in Children\u2019s Yoga, Yoga Nidra meditation, is an
\nExperienced-Registered Yoga Teacher and Continuing Education Provider,
\nreceived intensive training in Mindfulness, and Train the Trainer in Calm
\nClassroom, Resilient Schools from the Benson-Henry Institute through
\nMassachusetts General Hospital, and Anti-Bullying and Cyberbullying through
\nthe Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center.<\/p>\n
No matter the audience or topic, Linda ensures that participants leave with
\nresources and skills they can implement immediately. Linda may be reached

The Mental Health Action Team, an arm of the First Parish of Norwell\u2019s
\nFogg Outreach Committee, was newly formed in June of 2022 in response to
\nthe challenges faced by all of us as we negotiated the pandemic and finally
\nbegan to normalize discussions regarding mental health challenges. The
\nTeam meets several times a year for an hour at a time \u2013 usually on Sunday
\nafternoons and via Zoom \u2013 and receives generous funding from the Fogg
\nOutreach Committee. All are welcome to attend our programs and\/or our
\nmeetings. Previous programs have included sessions on dementia, on \u201cIn
\nour Own Voice\u201d with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and
\nregarding suicide and depression awareness with the Samaritans and Families
