Hanover Town Hall was bustling with activity last night, including meetings
\nof the Board of Assessors and the Select Board. At the Board of Assessors’
\nmeeting, the Board voted to go back to recommending a split tax rate with a
\nshift to 1.04 for commercial, industrial and personal property, and .9926
\nfor residential property. For more information about what this means,

\n. This shift is similar to the shifts made in fiscal years 2020, 2021, and
\n2022, but slightly up from the 1.0 (no split) rate for FY’23.<\/p>\n
Immediately following the Board of Assessors’ meeting, the Select Board
\nvoted to concur with the Assessors’ recommendation, but not before
\ndiscussing a shift of 1.1 for commercial, industrial and personal property,
\nwhich would have resulted in a .9814 factor for residential property, which
\nwas voted down.<\/p>\n
In other big news, the Select Board directed Town Manager Colangelo to
\ncontinue to prepare a budget override option for our consideration at the
\nAnnual Town Meeting and Town Election of May of 2024. For the latest
