The annual Town Census has been mailed to all Hanover households. If you do
\nnot have any changes to your Town Census, you may submit your response
\non-line! All residents should review the information on the form, make any
\nchanges if necessary, and sign and return the form as soon as possible. If
\nthere are no changes to your Town Census, go to:

\nand fill out the on-line form. Household members who are temporarily
\nliving away from home, such as college students, members of the military
\nservices, etc., should not be removed from the census if they plan to use
\nHanover as their voting address.<\/p>\n
New this year \u2013 there is one less piece of paper because the School
\nCensus will be completed electronically! To complete the School Census, go
\nto:

\nby February 16th. Make sure you include your children on the Town Census
\nAND on the electronic School Census. Still included in the Town Census
\nmailing is a Dog License Application. If applicable to your household, this
\nform should also be completed and may be returned in the enclosed addressed
\nenvelope or dropped through the mail slot with your Town Census in the
\nfront door of the Hanover Town Hall.

\nCompletion of the annual census is important for a number of reasons.
\n\u2022\tRegistered voters in a household that fail to complete an annual census
\nwill lose their \u201cactive\u201d voter status, which is an important
\nconsideration given this busy election year.
\n\u2022\tIt assists in accurate municipal planning.
\n\u2022\tIt assists the police and fire departments in case of any emergency in
\nyour home
\n\u2022\tIt allows Hanover to receive the proper allocation of state and federal
\nfunds and grants.
\n\u2022\tFiling a census can provide proof of residency for a number of legal
\nrequirements such as in-state tuition at state colleges, housing benefits,
\nveterans\u2019 benefits, and insurance benefits.
\nBe sure your family phone number is on the census form. This phone number
\nwill only be used in case of emergencies!
