The Presidential Primary in Massachusetts is finally upon us! Early voting
\nended on Friday, March 1st, and so we are on to Election Day here in
\nHanover!<\/p>\n
Election Day – Super Tuesday – is Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. The polls are
\nopen from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Hanover High School, 287 Cedar Street.
\nEvery registered voter may vote at this election regardless of party
\naffiliation. If you are “unenrolled”, commonly known as “independent”,
\nyou’ll have to pick your ballot when you get there. Here is the webpage
\nwith the sample ballots about a third of the way down:

\n. Make sure you know which ballot you want before you check in – once you
\ncheck in, you can’t swap your ballot for a different one! If you are
\nenrolled in a party, you can only vote that party’s ballot.<\/p>\n
Did you request a Vote by Mail (VBM) ballot and not turn it in yet? The
\nballot drop box in front of town hall will be open all weekend and until
\n8:00 p.m. on Election Day. It will be emptied regularly by election staff
\nwith the assistance of the Hanover Police, and all of those ballots will be
\ncounted on Election Day as long as they are received in the box before the
\nclose of polls. Don’t bring those VBM ballots to the polls!<\/p>\n
Tuesday is a half day of school in Hanover. As a result, voters should
\naccess the polling area from the BACK of the high school if they are
\narriving in the morning. There will be designated voter-only parking along
\nthe music wing and near the locker rooms in the back. The front doors will
\nbe locked during school hours (7:55 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) as per usual. The
\nback doors will be open, and you’ll turn right upon entering to get to the
\ngym\/polling place. The rest of the building will be inaccessible to the
\npublic before 12:30 p.m., so plan accordingly.<\/p>\n
Friendly tip – make a plan now regarding when you will vote on Tuesday!
\nWhen will it fit into your day? Pro-tip – you may want to avoid the
\ntraffic congestion from about 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and again from about
\n12:15 – 12:45 p.m. Fun tip – Mom on the Go Food Truck will be parked out
\nback and slinging grilled cheeses from 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.! Since it is
\na half day, bring the whole family to vote and feed everybody while you are
\nthere!<\/p>\n

\nThe Town Clerk’s Office will be closed beginning at 12 noon on Monday for
\nthe afternoon so that we may prepare and set up for the election, but it
\nwill be open with a skeleton staff on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Finally – a shout out to the AMAZING Hanover Election staff. They have
\nbeen working tirelessly since early January to manage the Vote by Mail
\nprocess and In-Person Early Voting – and to make sure it is easy for ALL
\nHanover voters to vote in this election. They are simply a fabulous team
\nof incredible people who are a pleasure to be around. They are your
\nneighbors and your friends – please make sure you thank them! Thanks also
\nto the HPD, HFD, DPW, Facilities, IT, Town Manager, Finance and School
\nDepartment staffs for their terrific cooperation as we prepared for
\nTuesday’s Election AND the Hanover Girls’ Basketball State Tournament home
\ncourt advantage game on Monday night. Go Hawks – of all ages!<\/p>\n
