The Town of Hanover is developing a consumer-friendly electricity program
\ncalled Hanover Energy Choice. The program is an electricity aggregation,
\nwhich is a group electricity purchasing program for Hanover residents and
\nbusinesses. Through Hanover Energy Choice, the Town will use its collective
\nbuying power to lock in long-term electricity supply prices that will not
\nchange seasonally. While Hanover Energy Choice will not be able to
\nguarantee lower prices compared with National Grid\u2019s Basic Service
\nprices, the Town is committed to working toward providing prices that are
\ncompetitive and stable.<\/p>\n
When the program launches, electricity customers in Hanover will see a
\nchange in the price that is used to calculate the Supply Services portion
\nof their National Grid electric bill, which is the part of the bill where
\nwe pay for the electricity we use. National Grid will continue to deliver
\nelectricity to Hanover and handle billing without interruption.<\/p>\n
Before launching the program, the Town must develop an Aggregation Plan and
\nsubmit it to state regulators for review and approval. To ensure the public
\nhas an opportunity to be a part of developing this program, the Town is
\nmaking its draft Aggregation Plan and associated documents available for
\nreview and comment before beginning that regulatory review process. The
\ndraft Aggregation Plan for Hanover Energy Choice will be available for
\npublic review and comment from March 18th to April 17th. Those interested
\nin reviewing the plan and associated documents may download them from the
\nTown of Hanover website at

\nor obtain copies from the Select Board Office in Hanover Town Hall, 550
\nHanover Street. Hanover residents and business owners are encouraged to
\nreview the plan and submit written comments via email to
\njanet.tierney@hanover-ma.gov or via U.S. Mail to: Hanover Town Hall,
\nOffices of the Select Board and Town Manager, 550 Hanover Street, Attn:
\nJulie Burke. Comments sent by mail must be received (not postmarked) by the
\nend of the comment period in order to be addressed.<\/p>\n
An overview of the plan will be presented during the March 18, 2024, Select
\nBoard meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in a
\nhybrid format with both in person attendees in the first-floor hearing room
\nof Hanover Town Hall, 550 Hanover Street, as well as remote attendees via
\nthe Zoom platform. <\/p>\n
