{"id":4324,"date":"2024-07-17T01:35:05","date_gmt":"2024-07-17T05:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=4324"},"modified":"2024-07-17T01:35:05","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T05:35:05","slug":"dg-eats-to-support-hungry-people-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=4324","title":{"rendered":"DG Eats to support hungry people in need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>DG Eats (www.dgeats.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping<br \/>\nhungry people in need, is excited to announce its new initiative to support<br \/>\nlocal food pantries on the South Shore of Massachusetts.<br \/>\nRecognizing the growing need for food security in the region, DG Eats was<br \/>\nstarted in 2023 by a local Hanover High Schooler, Abram (Abe) Dehner. Abe<br \/>\nhas always been moved by the fact that not everyone has access to good food<br \/>\nevery day. He wants this for everyone because he believes it will empower<br \/>\nmore people to lead healthier and fulfilling lives.<\/p>\n<p>Starting with research about nutrition as well as what food distribution<br \/>\noptions exist in his own community on the South Shore of Massachusetts, Abe<br \/>\nis now sharing information on the matter, as well as collecting<br \/>\nnon-perishable food donations for distribution to partner food pantries in<br \/>\nthe region. Local food pantries play a crucial role in providing essential<br \/>\nnutritional assistance to families and individuals struggling with hunger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt DG Eats, we are committed to fostering a healthy and vibrant<br \/>\ncommunity,\u201d says Abram Dehner, founder of DG Eats. \u201cFood insecurity is<br \/>\na serious issue and with the cost of living continuing to rise, more people<br \/>\nin our communities need help to access nutritious meals. Through this new<br \/>\ninitiative, I hope to make a positive impact and alleviate hunger for more<br \/>\nfamilies in our local neighborhoods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How to donate:<br \/>\nThe public is encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to DG Eats.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s how you can help:<br \/>\n\u2022 Drop-off Locations: A list of designated drop-off locations and food<br \/>\npantries around the South Shore is available on the DG Eats website<br \/>\n(www.dgeats.org).<br \/>\n\u2022 Organized Food Drives: Businesses, schools, and community organizations<br \/>\ncan contact DG Eats to help organize their own food drives.<br \/>\n\u2022 Donate monetarily to your chosen food pantry, community garden, food<br \/>\nrescue program or education and advocacy program right on the DG Eats<br \/>\nwebsite (www.dgeats.org ).<\/p>\n<p>Most needed items:<br \/>\nDonations of non-perishable food items with long shelf lives are most<br \/>\nappreciated. These include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Canned goods (soups, vegetables, fruits, fish, meat)<br \/>\n\u2022 Pasta and rice<br \/>\n\u2022 Beans<br \/>\n\u2022 Peanut butter<br \/>\n\u2022 Canned tuna or salmon<br \/>\n\u2022 Dry cereal and oatmeal<br \/>\n\u2022 Canned or boxed shelf-stable milk<br \/>\n\u2022 Cooking oil<\/p>\n<p>In just the few short months that DG Eats has been operating, Abe has<br \/>\nalready seen the generosity of the South Shore community and is grateful as<br \/>\nwell as motivated to see how far this effort can go to help.
