Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Special Town Meeting ended Monday night just before 9:00 p.m., but not
\nbefore approving all four Warrant Articles as recommended by the Advisory
\nCommittee. <\/p>\n
As expected, there was quite a spirited debate about the merits of funding
\nour beloved Transfer Station via an enterprise fund. A substitute motion
\nwas initially offered to the meeting that would have directed future
\nsticker fees to the General Fund. In the end, the Town voted to create the
\nEnterprise Fund, thereby freeing up about $1.6 million dollars in next
\nyear’s budget, which will help us to fund the anticipated deficits this
\nspring. The Select Board will soon be reviewing how to fund the Transfer
\nStation in the future – either via sticker fees, pay-as-you-throw bag
\ncosts, or a combination of the two. <\/p>\n
We also approved a revised regional agreement for the South Shore
\nVocational Technical School District, allocated $60K of CPA funds for the
\nre-design of B. Everett Hall Playground and fields, and authorized
\nborrowing money to purchase a new fire truck.<\/p>\n
