What’s all this about an override? What does it mean to me, and to our
\ntown? Here are some basics:<\/p>\n
– Every year, Hanover’s budgetary spending increases. Employees get
\nraises, costs to do business go up, health insurance prices increase, etc.
\nProposition 2 1\/2 keeps that spending limited to a 2.5% increase plus the
\nvalue of any new growth in town. Some years, our costs go up more than
\nProp 2 1\/2 plus new growth allows. Last year was one of those years. This
\nyear is also one of those years, because last year’s override attempt
\nfailed.<\/p>\n
