Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
An impressive 302 people showed up at Hanover High School on one of the
\ncoldest nights of the year so far this winter to spend exactly 26 minutes
\nnot debating a single one of the five articles on the Special Town Meeting
\nwarrant on Monday night.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to all of us for showing up and showing that we care, and
\nfurther and deeper thanks to the members of the Planning Board, Advisory
\nCommittee and Select Board for their thorough review of some potentially
\nchallenging issues. Their guidance and hard work, along with that of our
\nskillful Moderator, was what made Town Meeting flow so smoothly and quickly
\nthis evening.<\/p>\n
For those on the sideline just looking to catch up, Town Meeting approved
\nan amendment to our zoning by-laws that created a new multi-family overlay
\ndistrict called “MBTA Zoning” at Hanover Crossing and closed out some prior
\nyear authorizations. The latter item will help us to clean up our books
\nand return some monies to free cash and rescind some unneeded borrowing.
\nThe former item passed without a single comment from those outside of the 3
\naforementioned committees. <\/p>\n
Town Meeting also chose to not appropriate money for legal fees related to
\nthe MBTA zoning article, nor pass an article regarding a recall provision
\nof elected officials after the petitioner recommended it be withdrawn.<\/p>\n
