Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier reminded residents today that
\n2026 Town of Hanover dog licenses are now available on-line, via the front
\ndoor mail slot, or by US mail. The licensing period is January 1, 2026 \u2013
\nMarch 31, 2026, and a $10 late fee applies beginning April 1, 2026. All
\ndogs over the age of 6 months are required by law to be licensed. <\/p>\n
There are several types of licenses; your dog\u2019s rabies vaccination
\nexpiration date and spaying\/neutering status and your age all dictate which
\none your dog is eligible for. If your dog\u2019s rabies vaccination expires in
\n2026 or 2027, a one-year tag costs $10 for spayed or neutered dogs, and $15
\nfor intact dogs. New just last year – dogs with a rabies vaccination
\nexpiration date of 2028 or 2029 are eligible for a three-year tag! Save
\n$10 over the three-year period by requesting a three-year tag at $20 for a
\nspayed or neutered dog or $35 for an intact dog! And finally, residents
\nover the age of 70 will be given a free license for their rabies-vaccinated
\ndog upon proof of the owner\u2019s age. <\/p>\n

\nYour tag will be mailed to you upon our acceptance of your application and
\nsuccessful payment.
\n\u2022\tResidents may also fill out the dog license application that is found
\non the Town Clerk\u2019s section of the Town of Hanover\u2019s website at:

\n . This is the same application that was included in the census mailing
\nthis year. Completed forms may be dropped in the front door mail slot or
\nUS mailed in with your payment, proof of current rabies vaccination and
\nproof of spaying or neutering (if you have not submitted that information
\npreviously) to the Town Clerk\u2019s Office and your tag will be mailed back
\nto you. <\/p>\n
Due to the high volume of dog license applications, please be patient with
\nus for the return of your tag. Unlicensed dogs are subject to a minimum of
\na $25 fine, with an additional $25 fine if unleashed and another fine of
\n$50 if unvaccinated for rabies, but if you are in the \u201cqueue\u201d by March
\n31st, you are all set. If you have questions or need more information
