Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
The application period is now open for the Town of Hanover Summer
\nInternship for the Summer of 2026. Strong preference is given to students
\nand graduates of Hanover High School, South Shore Vocational Technical High
\nSchool, and those who live in Hanover and attend\/attended private high
\nschools. Special note: those who are \u201ccollege aged\u201d but are not
\ncurrently enrolled in a college\/university are still eligible and will be
\nconsidered be it if they are in trade schools or still exploring what is
\nnext for them in life.<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t a fetch coffee and file paperwork internship (although let\u2019s
\nbe honest there is a little of that!). Summer interns are engaged in high
\nlevel work that has included in the past: providing the financial analysis
\nand making recommendations to the Select Board for water rates, providing
\nanalysis in support of the Transfer Station Enterprise Fund, interviewing
\nand selecting consultants for Hanover\u2019s Municipal Aggregation program,
\ncreating the Town of Hanover Welcome Packet, work at the police station
\nafter obtaining certifications from state and national criminal justice
\ninformation centers, and much, much more.<\/p>\n
This summer, amongst other tasks and projects that will be assigned,
\ninterns will help Hanover prepare activities for the 300th celebration (in
\nadvance of Summer 2027).<\/p>\n
Interested candidates for the Town of Hanover Summer Internship program
\nmust submit the following:
\n1.\tCover letter detailing in 500 words your interest in this program;
\n2.\tResume;
\n3.\tLetter of reference from a professor\/teacher, coach, previous employer,
\nguidance counselor, etc.;
\n4.\tThe application period for the 2026 Town of Hanover Summer Internship
\nwill end on March 20, 2026; hiring decisions will be made in early April
\n(after interviews, etc.)

The town has typically tried to make room for three (3) interns. This has
\nbeen competitive in the past with applications reaching well beyond the
\nnumber of slots the town can provide.<\/p>\n
Past participants in this program have found it to be engaging,
\nchallenging, fun!, and an excellent resume builder for future endeavors. <\/p>\n
