I was
elected for my first 1–year term in 2022 and re-elected for a 3-year term
in 2023. For the past year, I have served as the chair and I also served as
secretary and treasurer in the previous years.
Prior to joining the Board of Library Trustee, I have volunteered for
various capacities in town. I served as a member of the town’s Transfer
Station Study Committee. I have volunteered for the PTA since my son
started pre-kindergarten at Cedar School. He is now in the Middle School!
I am a member of various local organizations in town. I have been a member
of the Hanover Club since 2022 and became a board member this year, taking
care of the club’s social media. I am a part of the Hanover Pride, which
I have helped organize the Pride event every June. I love crocheting and I
am a part of Hanover Fiber Club, which we meet monthly at the John Curtis
Free Library. I am also a member of the Hanover Women’s club jr.
Professional, prior to moving to Boston to attend graduate school, I was a
television reporter in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, I work as a Senior
Program Coordinator in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Boston
Children’s hospital. I earned a Master of Arts in Multimedia Journalism
from Emerson College in Boston. And I earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees
from Thailand, one in Political Science and another in Communications.

What are the major issues confronting the town which involve your office?
Please express your opinion on these issues and how you propose to deal
with them.

Funding pressure is the major issue our library is confronting. The
uncertainty in federal and state support are also my concerns.
The library, just like other departments in town, has to work with a
limited budget to maintain our current services and also make sure our
budget meet the MAR (Municipal Appropriation Requirement) in order for our
library to continue to be certified for State Aid.
I will continue to be a strong advocate for our library and emphasize how
important our library and its service are to our community.

Why are you running for this office?
Because I love the library! I believe the library is a critical part of
our community, especially for young children and seniors. As a trustee, I
will continue to advocate for our library to stay relevant with their
services and materials it provides. Our library isn’t just an archive of
books. It provides free passes to museums, WiFi devices and streaming
devices that residents can borrow, art exhibits, youth activities, and so
much more. And it must continue to evolve as technology evolves and trends
change. I would like to continue supporting our library to achieve its full
potential.

For “Around Town on the Web”,
Cathy H-B

—
“Around Town on the Web” (“ATOTW”) has been a valued push notification
since the spring of 2004 – long before there were push notifications!

For submission guidelines and answers to frequently asked questions about
“ATOTW”, please go to
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=xodILJYET7y5AydNykl3XvsxFL3w8rs5uDz5tbpBt2xoqLt7nDPoRqoN783ZLADJ
To search for archived “ATOTW” news, view the archive

.
If you would like to be added to this distribution list, click here

.
Please follow the link in the response e-mail to validate your account.
