Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15, 2009 postmark deadline
\nfor organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support
\ncultural activities in the community. <\/p>\n
According to Council spokesperson Katie Duff, these grants can support a
\nvariety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover — including
\nexhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in
\nschools, workshops and lectures. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council will also entertain funding proposals from
\nschools and youth groups through the PASS Program, which provides subsidies
\nfor school-age children to attend cultural field trips. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural
\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC
\nProgram is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation,
\nsupporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and
\nhumanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual
\nappropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which
\nthen allocates funds to each community. <\/p>\n
This year, the Hanover Cultural Council will distribute about $4,000 in
\ngrants. Previously funded projects include: visiting artist at Hanover High
\nSchool, "Swing This Spring" for the Hanover COA, Piano concerts at the John
\nCurtis Library, "Home for the Holidays" brass concert at St. Andrew’s Church
\nand more. <\/p>\n
