Jou Nouvo, founded in 2008, got<br \/>\nits start by offering an adult literacy class to ten women in Bon Repos,<br \/>\nHaiti, a poverty-stricken community located 12 kilometers west of<br \/>\nPort-au-Prince. The inspiration for the venture came to Ms. Tofuri, a<br \/>\nHaitian native and Hanover transplant, during a visit back to Haiti. In the<br \/>\n24 years since she had left Haiti, she noticed a drastic change in the<br \/>\ncommunity; children were not in school, rates of unemployment had risen, and<br \/>\npeople had little access to health care.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Around Town On The Web&quot; is delighted to bring good news to you from Mrs.<br \/>\nTofuri and Jou Nouvo.
