The Friends of the John Curtis Free Library are hosting a workshop for
\nparents of girls on Saturday, October 3, from 2 – 4:30 p.m. at the library.
\nCyndi Denmat, a workshop leader and parenting consultant
\n(www.raisinggirls.org), will lead "Friendship and Cliques: A Primer for
\nParents" with a question and answer time at the end. This program hopes to
\nhelp parents understand the nature of cliques which can so affect preteen
\ngirls. Learn about the social function of cliques, the roles girls play in
\ncliques, and what to do when cliques turn negative. This workshop provides
\nparents specific techniques on how to coach their daughter effectively and
\ncompassionately when she faces negative group behavior. Cyndi Denmat earned
\nher M.Ed. from Lesley University and is an adjunct faculty member at Lesley
\nUniversity. She is the founding director of Empowering Mothers of America,
\na parenting consulting organization. This event is funded entirely by the
\nFriends and will be FREE of charge to all participants. Tickets are
\nrequired and limited to 100 people. Please get them at the children’s
