I heard some great news "around town" yesterday that I thought was well
\nworth mentioning "on the web" to all of you. J While stopping by Town Hall
\nyesterday, I was delighted to hear that the bids for the new high school
\nhave come in well under our original estimates. If you recall, the town
\napproved a total of approximately $61 million for the new Hanover High
\nSchool, the bulk of which was passed by a margin of 79% in an override
\nballot question on September 16th, 2008. Since then, of course, we have all
\nbeen reeling from the impact of the economic downturn.<\/p>\n
The Selectmen signed a letter of intent with general contractor Callahan,
\nInc. of Bridgewater this week for a total cost of just under $50 million
\ndollars. The unissued bonds totaling over $11 million dollars will save the
\naverage taxpayer literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the life of
\nthe project costs.<\/p>\n
It doesn’t get much better than that!<\/p>\n
