Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Some astute readers of ATOTW sent follow-up questions about this Saturday’s
\nH1N1 flu clinic. I have been in close and constant contact with the Board
\nof Health and am happy to provide this additional information:<\/p>\n
. Dosage requirements and\/or notes from a child’s pediatrician are
\nNOT required for this clinic (as they have been in the past in traditional
\nseasonal flu clinics)<\/p>\n
. A parent DOES need to sign consent for their child under the age of
\n18 to be vaccinated<\/p>\n
. ALL children ages 6 months to 18 years old are eligible to be
\nvaccinated, not just those with underlying conditions such as asthma<\/p>\n
. Children ages 9 and under will need to get two shots 28 days apart<\/p>\n
. The clinic will be successful with the assistance of volunteers who
\nsign up by e-mailing health@hanover-ma.gov by 4:00 p.m. TODAY, 11\/12.
\nVolunteers are asked to report by 9:30 a.m., park by the tennis courts, and
\ncome in the front door. The Board of Health is firmly committed to
\nvaccinating children of volunteers early next week since it will be
\nimpossible for volunteers to stand in line and work at the same time!

. The clinic is open to members of the public who meet the criteria
\npreviously outlined here on ATOTW<\/p>\n
Your reasonable participation and patience will be essential. Crowd control
\nmeasures include the following:<\/p>\n
. Hanover Police will be on hand directing traffic<\/p>\n
. Please enter through the side\/gym doors<\/p>\n
. There are 300 shots and 300 live mist doses. When you arrive, your
\nchildren will be evaluated by a medical professional and put in one group or
\nthe other. You may not receive your first choice; decisions will be made on
\na medically necessary basis. You do have the ability to decline a vaccine
\ntype if it is not your first choice!<\/p>\n
. You will be assigned a color coded card and group number that
\nindicates when your children will be called for their vaccine<\/p>\n
. Members of the Student Council and National Honor Society will be
\non hand to help entertain your children in the common spaces of the high
\nschool while you wait<\/p>\n
. Parents will need to watch for their group to be called into the
\ngym for the vaccine<\/p>\n
. If your child does not receive their vaccine this weekend, there
\nwill be LOTS more vaccine and additional clinics will be scheduled in the
\nfuture. Stay tuned to this space for further details!<\/p>\n

\nin-boxes enough as it is! But, if you ever need to be reminded about the
\ndetails that appeared in a previous e-mail (in this case, vaccine
\neligibility, or the date and time of this Saturday’s flu clinic, for

\na key word in the search box in the upper right corner. A friend once
\ncalled it an electronic file cabinet for all of Hanover!<\/p>\n
