Long-time readers will remember that Libby was
woman who single-handedly orchestrated a massive candy collection at the
John Curtis Library after Halloween for our troops abroad.

Just an update and note of thanks to ATOTW readers for all of the help with
"Candy for a Cause." We mailed 28 boxes of candy to soldiers from MA
serving overseas, including several Hanover residents who were nominated by
readers. It could not have been done without AT&T Mobility (and reader
Peter Nixon) of Hanover which so graciously offered to pay for shipping all
28 boxes. The store manager, Chris, actually met me at the post office and
helped to unload all the boxes. Reader Paul Hutchins of Lawn Ranger
Landscaping and Chris of AT&T donated money that also allowed me to purchase
a large package of baby wipes (in high demand there) for each box. ATOTW
recipient Patty Cockey offered beautiful cards made by the children in St.
Mary’s CCD classes and (another ATOTW recipient) Joanne Collins coordinated
cards from the Hanover Middle School fifth grade classes of Ms. Dubois, Ms.
Paul, Mr. Ryan, Ms. McKenna, Ms. Hurley, Ms. Brandmark and Ms. O’Brien.
WOW! It is incredibly inspiring to think of what the community did for the
troops. I wish I could be there when the boxes are opened and those
beautiful cards are read. I enclosed a note in each box telling each of the
soldiers about the community effort that created the box and the cards, as
well as thanking the soldier and wishing him or her a safe return home.

I am sending along a link and hope you will pass it along. This will take
people to the public Facebook page containing pictures of the project. I
also hope to post pictures in the Library (whose staff was amazingly helpful
with the collection):

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aidE136

&id\u001384856435&l1424a394b

Thank you ATOTW!
