Some children are more sensitive to daily events in life such as<br \/>\nsounds they hear, the textures and smells of foods, or the feeling of having<br \/>\ntheir face washed. These sensitivities can impact the child&#8217;s ability to<br \/>\nsuccessfully participate in daily life tasks and can have a strong impact on<br \/>\nschool and family life. Strategies for helping a child become more<br \/>\nsuccessful in participating in sensory events will be discussed within this<br \/>\ninteractive session.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by: Stacey E. Szklut MS, OTR\/L.  Stacey is the owner of South<br \/>\nShore Therapies, a clinic specializing in intervention for individuals with<br \/>\nsensory, motor and feeding difficulties.  She is nationally recognized for<br \/>\nher knowledge of sensory integration and has developed and presented a wide<br \/>\nvariety of workshops on assessment, intervention, and combining therapeutic<br \/>\ntechniques. Stacey&#8217;s extensive clinical and teaching experience provides the<br \/>\nfoundation for her belief in an eclectic approach to intervention, focusing<br \/>\non developing functional abilities for independence.
