The Walnut Hill Garden Club of Hanover invites members of the public to a
\nfree lecture and slide show presentation on the best choices of plants for
\nyour landscape that will withstand the "dog days" of summer and provide a
\nlong season of bloom, colorful foliage and ornamental fruits to brighten the
\ngarden. <\/p>\n

Winter, when you can easily see the "bones" of the garden, is the best time
\nto think about summer and where you would like to see new plants. Many
\ngardens need a shot of color in July and August after spring flowers have
\npassed to enliven the background of green. Typically gardeners rely on
\nannuals for this purpose, but there are many trees, shrubs, perennials and
\ngrasses that can provide mid-summer interest with a minimum of care.<\/p>\n

Speaker Laura Eisener, a well-known Saugus landscape designer, has taught
\nfor over 20 years at the Landscape Institute of Arnold Arboretum. In her own
\nlandscape design firm she specializes in unique residential landscapes. She
\nis the 2007 Massachusetts Horticultural Society silver medal winner for
\nnoteworthy accomplishments in the horticultural industry.<\/p>\n

Walnut Hill Garden Club of Hanover, Massachusetts was founded in 1967 and in
\n1969 became a member of the National Council of Federated Garden Clubs
\nincorporated in St. Louis, Missouri. It is a member of The South Shore
\nDistrict of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts based in Wellesley
\nHills, MA. The club’s objectives are to promote the advancement of
\ngardening, concern for the environment, encouragement of individual
\ncreativity, civic involvement through beautification and education, and the
\ncultivation of friendship within the community. The club’s activities are
\nlimited to and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.<\/p>\n
