{"id":759,"date":"2010-03-08T21:30:16","date_gmt":"2010-03-09T01:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=759"},"modified":"2010-03-08T21:30:16","modified_gmt":"2010-03-09T01:30:16","slug":"hanover-open-space-committee-hike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=759","title":{"rendered":"Hanover Open Space Committee hike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>Join the Hanover Open Space Committee on March 20th at 10:00 a.m. to explore<br \/>\nthe Fireworks Loop Trail along the shoreline of Factory and Lily Ponds.<br \/>\nHanover Open Space Committee (OSC) members will guide hikers through the<br \/>\napproximately 2 mile loop.  Please wear boots\/shoes with good tread and be<br \/>\naware that there are a few steep narrow spots along the less developed<br \/>\neastern side of the path.  An easier walk to the Factory Pond Bridge and<br \/>\nback is also available.  Convenient parking is available at the trail head<br \/>\nand across the street at the site of the future King Street Fields.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed about activities and volunteer opportunities: you can find us<br \/>\non Facebook: Hanover Open Space, the web:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.hanover-ma.gov\/open-space.shtml, or join our Yahoo Group:<br \/>\nHanoverOpenSpace.  In addition, the OSC wants for input from the equestrian<br \/>\ncommunity in town.  Please let us know if you can contribute your<br \/>\nspecialized knowledge and needs to our volunteer committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Hanover OSC was chartered to ensure that the town&#8217;s rural character is<br \/>\nmaintained and enhanced both through protection of existing resources and<br \/>\nacquisition of new properties.  It is responsible for planning and<br \/>\nfacilitating the improvement of open space, enhancing access to open space,<br \/>\nand raising awareness of land use issues.  The OSC is also interested in<br \/>\nprotecting land that is environmentally sensitive, could be used for passive<br \/>\nrecreation, or is important for conserving the look and feel of the town.<br \/>\nOur goal is to retain the natural beauty and heritage of the town we live in<br \/>\nand love.<\/p>\n<p>We would also like to hear from you if you are simply interested in more<br \/>\ninformation on the work of the Committee.
