The Friends of the John Curtis Free Library and the Hanover Cultural Council
\nare proud to sponsor two free kite-making programs on Saturday, April 24,
\ndownstairs at the John Curtis Free Library. Don McCasland from the Blue
\nHills Observatory will provide kite kits and show participants how to
\nconstruct a kite. This activity is recommended for children ages 4 – 8 with
\na parent and\/or age 8 and over without a parent. Please call the children’s
\nroom at the library 781-826-2972, ext. 4 to register. There are 40 spaces
\navailable for the first session which runs from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m., and also
\n40 spaces for the session that runs from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. This
\nprogram is free and open to the public. Beginning at 11:30 a.m.,
\nparticipants and also the general public are invited to fly their kites at
\nthe open field of Dr. Wallace Kemp, 688 Main St. This field is situated on
\na hill, which affords great kite flying on a moderately windy day. The land
\nis part of a larger conservation area of the Wildlands Trust of Southeastern
\nMassachusetts. Don McCasland, program director of the Blue Hill Observatory
\nand an avid kite-lover, will be at the field to provide tips on kite-flying
\ntechnique. Rain date for flying the kites is Sunday, April 25th.<\/p>\n
