At Town Meeting on Monday, May 3rd, the residents
\nof Hanover voted a municipal budget of $45,601,152 to pay for the general and
\nreserve fund expenses for the town in fiscal year 2011. It was a
\nunanimous vote.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In a separate meeting also on the evening of May 3rd,
\nbut just prior to Town Meeting, members of the Board of Selectman voted to further
\nreduce the town’s projected expenditures for FY ’11. Budgets
\nfor the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Municipal Inspections
\nand Selectmen were reduced. The Selectman proposed to cut specific
\nbudgetary line items and positions from the aforementioned budgets, including
\nthe Fire Prevention Officer, Personnel Administration, a clerk in the
\nDepartment of Municipal Inspections, and secretarial time in the Police and
\nFire Departments. The total dollar amount to be cut in FY ’11 was
\n$119,000 and $239,000 in FY ’12.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This matter is due to be discussed again at a meeting of the
\nBoard of Selectmen on Monday, May 24th that begins at 7:00 p.m. in
\nTown Hall. This particular agenda item may or may not be taken up later
\nin the meeting due to other business before the Selectmen.<\/p>\n
