I recently received the below request from Robyn Mitton,
\nDirector of the Council on Aging:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We need your help!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As we all know, the present economic crisis has created
\nenormous pain for many of our citizens, including older adults. Many are
\nsuffering from significant reductions in their retirement funds and beginning
\nto realize the need to return to work. For most, the process is viewed as
\ndaunting…”Where do I begin?”…”What can I
\ndo?”…”What are my skills?”….”How do I write
\na resume?”…on and on the questions flow.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In recognition of this new need, Robyn is collaborating with
\nthe Executive Office of Elder Affairs and Keystone Associates to offer a job
\nsearch skills training program to help our seniors.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Now here is where you can help! We need trainers to
\nconduct workshops and we need mentors to work one on one with individual job
\nseekers who will have lots of questions and will need lots of coaching.
\nBoth roles require your time and commitment. If you are selected to
\nbecome a trainer, it will require you to participate in a six hour training
\nsession, probably on a Friday or Saturday. Then you will be asked to lead
\nfour separate workshops, two or more times in 2010\/2011. If you assume
\nthe role of mentor, you will participate in some training and you will be
\nassigned three to four job seekers to provide individual counseling. In
\neither role, we think this will be meaningful volunteer work for you to develop
\nyour own “job hunting” skills and assist older adults.<\/p>\n

\nroles, please let us know. Or if this is an activity that you might want
\nto “job share”, that might also work.<\/p>\n
